The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
{To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David.} Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy majesty above the heavens. 1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger. 2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast established; 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour. 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
Thou hast made him to rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet: 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
Sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field; 7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
The fowl of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, [whatever] passeth through the paths of the seas. 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
