New International Reader's Version (NIRV) New International Version (NIV)
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in the whole earth! You have made your glory higher than the heavens. 1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
You have made sure that children and infants praise you. You have done it because of your enemies. You have done it to put a stop to their talk. 2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
I think about the heavens. I think about what your fingers have created. I think about the moon and stars that you have set in place. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
What is a human being that you think about him? What is a son of man that you take care of him? 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings. You placed on him a crown of glory and honor. 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made human beings the rulers over all that your hands have created. You put everything under their control. 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
They rule over all flocks and herds and over the wild animals. 7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
They rule over the birds of the air and over the fish in the ocean. They rule over everything that swims in the oceans. 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in the whole earth! 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
