American Standard Version (ASV) New International Version (NIV)
I will give thanks unto Jehovah with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvellous works. 1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.
I will be glad and exult in thee; I will sing praise to thy name, O thou Most High. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
When mine enemies turn back, They stumble and perish at thy presence. 3 My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.
For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; Thou sittest in the throne judging righteously. 4 For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously.
Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked; Thou hast blotted out their name for ever and ever. 5 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
The enemy are come to an end, they are desolate for ever; And the cities which thou hast overthrown, The very remembrance of them is perished. 6 Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.
But Jehovah sitteth [as king] for ever: He hath prepared his throne for judgment; 7 The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.
And he will judge the world in righteousness, He will minister judgment to the peoples in uprightness. 8 He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice.
Jehovah also will be a high tower for the oppressed, A high tower in times of trouble; 9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; For thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. 10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwelleth in Zion: Declare among the people his doings. 11 Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them; He forgetteth not the cry of the poor. 12 For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; Behold my affliction [which I suffer] of them that hate me, Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death; 13 O LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,
That I may show forth all thy praise. In the gates of the daughter of Zion I will rejoice in thy salvation. 14 that I may declare your praises in the gates of the Daughter of Zion and there rejoice in your salvation.
The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made: In the net which they hid is their own foot taken. 15 The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
Jehovah hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment: The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. [Higgaion. Selah 16 The LORD is known by his justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands. "Higgaion." "Selah"
The wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol, Even all the nations that forget God. 17 The wicked return to the grave, all the nations that forget God.
For the needy shall not alway be forgotten, Nor the expectation of the poor perish for ever. 18 But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.
Arise, O Jehovah; Let not man prevail: Let the nations be judged in thy sight. 19 Arise, O LORD, let not man triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence.
Put them in fear, O Jehovah: Let the nations know themselves to be but men. [Selah 20 Strike them with terror, O LORD; let the nations know they are but men. "Selah"
