Holman Christian Standard (CSB) New International Version (NIV)
Why do the nations rebel and the peoples plot in vain? 1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and His Anointed One: 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
"Let us tear off their chains and free ourselves from their restraints." 3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them. 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
Then He speaks to them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath: 5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
"I have consecrated My King on Zion, My holy mountain." 6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."
