Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.
And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
And he cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon him, that he should no more seduce the nations till the thousand years be finished. And after that, he must be loosed a little time. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
And I saw seats. And they sat upon them: and judgment was given unto them. And the souls of them that were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God and who had not adored the beast nor his image nor received his character on their foreheads or in their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
The rest of the dead lived not, till the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection. In these the second death hath no power. But they shall be priests of God and of Christ: and shall reign with him a thousand years. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
And when the thousand years shall be finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison and shall go forth and seduce the nations which are over the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog: and shall gather them together to battle, the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison
And they came upon the breadth of the earth and encompassed the camp of the saints and the beloved city. 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth--Gog and Magog--to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.
And there cane down fire from God out of heaven and devoured them: and the devil, who seduced them, was cast into the pool of fire and brimstone, where both the beast 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
And the false prophet shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
And I saw a great white throne and one sitting upon it, from whose face the earth and heaven fled away: and there was no place found for them 11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing in the presence of the throne. And the books were opened: and another book was opened, which was the book of life. And the dead were judged by those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
And the sea gave up the dead that were in it: and death and hell gave up their dead that were in them. And they were judged, every one according to their works. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.
And hell and death were cast into the pool of fire. This is the second death. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the pool of fire. 15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
