King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up , and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled : and after that he must be loosed a little season. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image , neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished . This is the first resurrection. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
