New Revised Standard (NRS) New International Version (NIV)
I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness. 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
No, "if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads." 20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
