King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. 14 I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.
Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind , because of the grace that is given to me of God, 15 I have written you quite boldly on some points, as if to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. 17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.
For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, 18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done--
Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. 19 by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel , not where Christ was named , lest I should build upon another man's foundation: 20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.
But as it is written , To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see : and they that have not heard shall understand . 21 Rather, as it is written: "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."
For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you. 22 This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.
But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you; 23 But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to see you,
Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey , and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company. 24 I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while.
But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints. 25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there.
For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.
It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are . For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things. 27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.
When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain. 28 So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this fruit, I will go to Spain and visit you on the way.
And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. 29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.
Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; 30 I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.
That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints; 31 Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea and that my service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there,
That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed . 32 so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. 33 The God of peace be with you all. Amen.
