English Standard Version (ESV) New International Version (NIV)
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. 1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
Do you suppose, O man--you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself--that you will escape the judgment of God? 3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment?
Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. 5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
He will render to each one according to his works: 6 God "will give to each person according to what he has done."
to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;
but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
For God shows no partiality. 11 For God does not show favoritism.
