I am a rose of Sharon, A lily of the valleys. 1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
As a lily among thorns, So is my love among the daughters. Beloved 2 Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens.
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, So is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, His fruit was sweet to my taste. 3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my lover among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.
He brought me to the banquet hall. His banner over me is love. 4 He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love.
Strengthen me with raisins, Refresh me with apples; For I am faint with love. 5 Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.
His left hand is under my head. His right hand embraces me. 6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.
I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, By the roes, or by the hinds of the field, That you not stir up, nor awaken love, Until it so desires. 7 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.
The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, Leaping on the mountains, Skipping on the hills. 8 Listen! My lover! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills.
My beloved is like a roe or a young hart. Behold, he stands behind our wall! He looks in at the windows. He glances through the lattice. 9 My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.
My beloved spoke, and said to me, Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away. 10 My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.
For, behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. 11 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth; The time of the singing has come, And the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land. 12 Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
The fig tree ripens her green figs. The vines are in blossom; They give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, And come away. Lover 13 The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."
My dove in the clefts of the rock, In the hiding places of the mountainside, Let me see your face. Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. 14 My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.
Catch for us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vineyards; For our vineyards are in blossom. Beloved 15 Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.
My beloved is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies. 16 My lover is mine and I am his; he browses among the lilies.
Until the day is cool, and the shadows flee away, Turn, my beloved, And be like a roe or a young hart on the mountains of Bether. 17 Until the day breaks and the shadows flee, turn, my lover, and be like a gazelle or like a young stag on the rugged hills.
