1 Corinthians 6:12-20

RSV 12 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be enslaved by anything. NIV 12 "Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything. RSV 13 "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food" --and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. NIV 13 "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"--but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. RSV 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. NIV 14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. RSV 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! NIV 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! RSV 16 Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two shall become one flesh." NIV 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." RSV 17 But he who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. NIV 17 But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. RSV 18 Shun immorality. Every other sin which a man commits is outside the body; but the immoral man sins against his own body. NIV 18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. RSV 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; NIV 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; RSV 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. NIV 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
