1 Pues que el Cristo ha padecido por nosotros en la carne, vosotros también estad armados del mismo pensamiento; que el que ha padecido en la carne, cesó de pecado

2 para que ya el tiempo que queda en <em>la</em> carne, viva, no a las concupiscencias de los hombres, sino a la voluntad de Dios

3 Porque nos debe bastar que el tiempo pasado de nuestra vida hayamos hecho la voluntad de los gentiles, cuando conversábamos en lascivias, en concupiscencias, en embriagueces, en glotonerías, en orgías, y en abominables idolatrías

4 Y esto parece cosa extraña a los que os vituperan, que vosotros no corráis con ellos en el mismo desenfreno de disolución

5 los cuales darán cuenta al que está aparejado para juzgar <em>a</em> los vivos y <em>a</em> los muertos

6 Porque por esto también ha sido predicado el Evangelio a los muertos; para que sean juzgados en carne según los hombres, y vivan en espíritu según Dios

7 Mas el fin de todas las cosas se acerca; sed, pues, templados, y velad en oración

8 Y sobre todo, tened entre vosotros ferviente caridad; porque la caridad cubrirá multitud de pecados

9 Hospedaos amorosamente los unos a los otros sin murmuraciones

10 Cada uno según el don que ha recibido, adminístrelo a los otros, como buenos dispensadores de las diferentes gracias de Dios

11 Si alguno habla, <em>hable</em> como los oráculos de Dios; si alguno ministra, ministre conforme a la virtud que Dios suministra; para que en todas <em>las</em> cosas sea Dios glorificado por Jesús el Cristo, al cual es gloria e imperio para siempre jamás. Amén

12 Carísimos, no os maravilléis cuando seáis examinados por fuego, (lo cual se hace para vuestra prueba), como si alguna cosa peregrina os aconteciera

13 mas antes en que sois participantes de las aflicciones de Cristo, gozaos, para que también en la revelación de su gloria os gocéis en triunfo

14 Si sois vituperados por <em>el</em> Nombre de Cristo, sois bienaventurados, porque la gloria y el Espíritu de Dios reposan sobre vosotros. Cierto, según ellos, él es blasfemado, mas según vosotros es glorificado

15 Así que, ninguno de vosotros padezca como homicida, o ladrón, o malhechor, o codicioso de los bienes ajenos

16 Pero si alguno padece como cristiano, no se avergüence; antes glorifique a Dios en esta parte

17 Porque es tiempo de que el juicio comience desde la casa de Dios; y si primero <em>comienza</em> por nosotros, ¿qué será el fin de aquellos que no obedecen al Evangelio de Dios

18 Y si el justo con dificultad se salva; ¿en dónde aparecerá el infiel y el pecador

19 Y por eso los que son afligidos según la voluntad de Dios, encomiéndenle sus almas, como a fiel Creador, haciendo bien

1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.

2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.

3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

4 They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.

16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
