1 Timothy 1:12-17

NRS 12 I am grateful to Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because he judged me faithful and appointed me to his service, NIV 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. NRS 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a man of violence. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, NIV 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. NRS 14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. NIV 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. NRS 15 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the foremost. NIV 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst. NRS 16 But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience, making me an example to those who would come to believe in him for eternal life. NIV 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. NRS 17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. NIV 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
