1 Corinthians 1:10-17

NRS 10 Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose. NIV 10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. NRS 11 For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there are quarrels among you, my brothers and sisters. NIV 11 My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. NRS 12 What I mean is that each of you says, "I belong to Paul," or "I belong to Apollos," or "I belong to Cephas," or "I belong to Christ." NIV 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas "; still another, "I follow Christ." NRS 13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? NIV 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? NRS 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, NIV 14 I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, NRS 15 so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name. NIV 15 so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. NRS 16 (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) NIV 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.) NRS 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power. NIV 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
