1 Corinthians 1:10-18

CEB 10 Now I encourage you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Agree with each other and don't be divided into rival groups. Instead, be restored with the same mind and the same purpose. NRS 10 Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose. CEB 11 My brothers and sisters, Chloe's people gave me some information about you, that you're fighting with each other. NRS 11 For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there are quarrels among you, my brothers and sisters. CEB 12 What I mean is this: that each one of you says, "I belong to Paul,""I belong to Apollos,""I belong to Cephas,""I belong to Christ." NRS 12 What I mean is that each of you says, "I belong to Paul," or "I belong to Apollos," or "I belong to Cephas," or "I belong to Christ." CEB 13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you, or were you baptized in Paul's name? NRS 13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? CEB 14 Thank God that I didn't baptize any of you, except Crispus and Gaius, NRS 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, CEB 15 so that nobody can say that you were baptized in my name! NRS 15 so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name. CEB 16 Oh, I baptized the house of Stephanas too. Otherwise, I don't know if I baptized anyone else. NRS 16 (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) CEB 17 Christ didn't send me to baptize but to preach the good news. And Christ didn't send me to preach the good news with clever words so that Christ's cross won't be emptied of its meaning. NRS 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power. CEB 18 The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are being destroyed. But it is the power of God for those of us who are being saved. NRS 18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
