1 John 3:1-7

CEB 1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us in that we should be called God's children, and that is what we are! Because the world didn't recognize him, it doesn't recognize us. NRS 1 See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. CEB 2 Dear friends, now we are God's children, and it hasn't yet appeared what we will be. We know that when he appears we will be like him because we'll see him as he is. NRS 2 Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. CEB 3 And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure. NRS 3 And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. CEB 4 Every person who practices sin commits an act of rebellion, and sin is rebellion. NRS 4 Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. CEB 5 You know that he appeared to take away sins, and there is no sin in him. NRS 5 You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. CEB 6 Every person who remains in relationship to him does not sin. Any person who sins has not seen him or known him. NRS 6 No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. CEB 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you. The person who practices righteousness is righteous, in the same way that Jesus is righteous. NRS 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.
