NIV 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. NRS 17 If you invoke as Father the one who judges all people impartially according to their deeds, live in reverent fear during the time of your exile. NIV 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, NRS 18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, NIV 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. NRS 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. NIV 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. NRS 20 He was destined before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of the ages for your sake. NIV 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. NRS 21 Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God. NIV 22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. NRS 22 Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart. NIV 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
