1 Peter 3:18-22

CEB 18 Christ himself suffered on account of sins, once for all, the righteous one on behalf of the unrighteous. He did this in order to bring you into the presence of God. Christ was put to death as a human, but made alive by the Spirit. NRS 18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit, CEB 19 And it was by the Spirit that he went to preach to the spirits in prison. NRS 19 in which also he went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison, CEB 20 In the past, these spirits were disobedient—when God patiently waited during the time of Noah. Noah built an ark in which a few (that is, eight) lives were rescued through water. NRS 20 who in former times did not obey, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. CEB 21 Baptism is like that. It saves you now—not because it removes dirt from your body but because it is the mark of a good conscience toward God. Your salvation comes through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, NRS 21 And baptism, which this prefigured, now saves you—not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, CEB 22 who is at God's right side. Now that he has gone into heaven, he rules over all angels, authorities, and powers. NRS 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers made subject to him.
