1 Thessalonians 5:8-18

NAS 8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. NIV 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. NAS 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, NIV 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. NAS 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. NIV 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. NAS 11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. NIV 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. NAS 12 But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction, NIV 12 Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. NAS 13 and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another. NIV 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. NAS 14 We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. NIV 14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. NAS 15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. NIV 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. NAS 16 Rejoice always; NIV 16 Be joyful always; NAS 17 pray without ceasing; NIV 17 pray continually; NAS 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. NIV 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
