1 Timothy 1:12-17

RSVA 12 I thank him who has given me strength for this, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful by appointing me to his service, NIV 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. RSVA 13 though I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and insulted him; but I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, NIV 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. RSVA 14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. NIV 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. RSVA 15 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the foremost of sinners; NIV 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst. RSVA 16 but I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience for an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. NIV 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. RSVA 17 To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. NIV 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
