1 Timothy 2

NLT 1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. NIV 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- NLT 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. NIV 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. NLT 8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy. NIV 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. NLT 9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. NIV 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, NLT 10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. NLT 11 Women should learn quietly and submissively. NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. NLT 12 I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. NLT 13 For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. NLT 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result. NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. NLT 15 But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
