2 Thessalonians 1

CEBA

NIV

1 From Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy:
1 Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 To the church of the Thessalonians, which is in God our Father, and in the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace and peace to all of you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Brothers and sisters, we must always thank God for you. This is only right because your faithfulness is growing by leaps and bounds, and the love that all of you have for each other is increasing.
3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
4 That's why we ourselves are bragging about you in God's churches. We tell about your endurance and faithfulness in all the harassments and trouble that you have put up with.
4 Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
5 This shows that God's judgment is right, and that you will be considered worthy of God's kingdom for which you are suffering.
5 All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
6 After all, it's right for God to pay back the ones making trouble for you with trouble
6 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you
7 and to pay back you who are having trouble with relief along with us. This payback will come when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his powerful angels.
7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
8 He will give justice with blazing fire to those who don't recognize God and don't obey the good news of our Lord Jesus.
8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
9 They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the Lord's presence and away from his mighty glory.
9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might
10 This will happen when he comes on that day to receive honor from his holy people and to be admired by everyone who has believed—and our testimony to you was believed.
10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.
11 We are constantly praying for you for this: that our God will make you worthy of his calling and accomplish every good desire and faithful work by his power.
11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.
12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored by you, and you will be honored by him, consistent with the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
