1 Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo

2 Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josafat, a Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azarías, Micael, y Sefatías. Todos éstos fueron hijos de Josafat rey de Israel

3 Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino a Joram, porque él <em>era</em> el primogénito

4 Y se levantó Joram contra el reino de su padre; y se hizo fuerte, y mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y asimismo <em>a algunos</em> de los príncipes de Israel

5 Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén

6 <em>Y</em> anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab; porque tenía por mujer <em>a</em> la hija de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR

7 Mas el SEÑOR no quiso destruir la casa de David, por la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente

8 En los días de éste <em>se</em> rebeló Edom, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí

9 <em>Entonces</em> pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y se levantó de noche, e hirió a Edom que le habían cercado, y a todos los príncipes de sus carros

10 Con todo eso Edom <em>quedó</em> rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También <em>se</em> rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado al SEÑOR el Dios de sus padres

11 Además de esto hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los moradores de Jerusalén fornicaran, y <em>a ello</em> impelió a Judá

12 Y le llegaron letras del profeta Elías, que decían así: El SEÑOR, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá

13 antes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicara Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalén, como fornicó la casa de Acab; <em>y</em> además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, <em>a</em> la casa de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú

14 he aquí el SEÑOR herirá tu pueblo de una gran plaga, a tus hijos <em>a</em> tus mujeres, y <em>a</em> toda tu hacienda

15 y a ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan a causa de la enfermedad de cada día

16 <em> Entonces</em> despertó el SEÑOR contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos, y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes

17 y subieron contra Judá, e invadieron la tierra, y saquearon toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, a sus hijos, y a sus mujeres; <em>de modo</em> que no le quedó hijo, sino Joacaz el menor de sus hijos

18 Después de todo esto el SEÑOR lo hirió en las entrañas con una enfermedad incurable

19 Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron por la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho a sus padres

20 Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos <em>años</em>, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años; y se fue sin <em>ser</em> deseado. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, mas no en los sepulcros de los reyes

New International Version NIV

1 Then Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Jehoram his son succeeded him as king.

2 Jehoram’s brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael and Shephatiah. All these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

3 Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and articles of value, as well as fortified cities in Judah, but he had given the kingdom to Jehoram because he was his firstborn son.

4 When Jehoram established himself firmly over his father’s kingdom, he put all his brothers to the sword along with some of the officials of Israel.

5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

6 He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.

7 Nevertheless, because of the covenant the LORD had made with David, the LORD was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

8 In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.

9 So Jehoram went there with his officers and all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night.

10 To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah. Libnah revolted at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD, the God of his ancestors.

11 He had also built high places on the hills of Judah and had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.

12 Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said: “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘You have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah.

13 But you have followed the ways of the kings of Israel, and you have led Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab did. You have also murdered your own brothers, members of your own family, men who were better than you.

14 So now the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow.

15 You yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.’ ”

16 The LORD aroused against Jehoram the hostility of the Philistines and of the Arabs who lived near the Cushites.

17 They attacked Judah, invaded it and carried off all the goods found in the king’s palace, together with his sons and wives. Not a son was left to him except Ahaziah, the youngest.

18 After all this, the LORD afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels.

19 In the course of time, at the end of the second year, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in great pain. His people made no funeral fire in his honor, as they had for his predecessors.

20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
