2 Timothy 3

CEB 1 Understand that the last days will be dangerous times. NIV 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. CEB 2 People will be selfish and love money. They will be the kind of people who brag and who are proud. They will slander others, and they will be disobedient to their parents. They will be ungrateful, unholy, NIV 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, CEB 3 unloving, contrary, and critical. They will be without self-control and brutal, and they won't love what is good. NIV 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, CEB 4 They will be people who are disloyal, reckless, and conceited. They will love pleasure instead of loving God. NIV 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- CEB 5 They will look like they are religious but deny God's power. Avoid people like this. NIV 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. CEB 6 Some will slither into households and control immature women who are burdened with sins and driven by all kinds of desires. NIV 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, CEB 7 These women are always learning, but they can never arrive at an understanding of the truth. NIV 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. CEB 8 These people oppose the truth in the same way that Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. Their minds are corrupt and their faith is counterfeit. NIV 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. CEB 9 But they won't get very far. Their foolishness will become obvious to everyone like those others. NIV 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. CEB 10 But you have paid attention to my teaching, conduct, purpose, faithfulness, patience, love, and endurance. NIV 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, CEB 11 You have seen me experience physical abuse and ordeals in places such as Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I put up with all sorts of abuse, and the Lord rescued me from it all! NIV 11 persecutions, sufferings--what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. CEB 12 In fact, anyone who wants to live a holy life in Christ Jesus will be harassed. NIV 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, CEB 13 But evil people and swindlers will grow even worse, as they deceive others while being deceived themselves. NIV 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. CEB 14 But you must continue with the things you have learned and found convincing. You know who taught you. NIV 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, CEB 15 Since childhood you have known the holy scriptures that help you to be wise in a way that leads to salvation through faith that is in Christ Jesus. NIV 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. CEB 16 Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character, NIV 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, CEB 17 so that the person who belongs to God can be equipped to do everything that is good. NIV 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
