2 Timothy 3

CJB 1 Moreover, understand this: in the acharit-hayamim will come trying times. NIV 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. CJB 2 People will be self-loving, money-loving, proud, arrogant, insulting, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, NIV 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, CJB 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, uncontrolled, brutal, hateful of good, NIV 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, CJB 4 traitorous, headstrong, swollen with conceit, loving pleasure rather than God, NIV 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- CJB 5 as they retain the outer form of religion but deny its power. Stay away from these people! NIV 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. CJB 6 For some of them worm their way into homes and get control of weak-willed women who are heaped with sins and swayed by various impulses, NIV 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, CJB 7 who are always learning but never able to come to full knowledge of the truth. NIV 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. CJB 8 In the same way as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moshe, so also these people oppose the truth. They are people with corrupted minds, whose trust cannot pass the test. NIV 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. CJB 9 However, they won't get very far; because everyone will see how stupid they are, just as happened with those two. NIV 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. CJB 10 But you, you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, trust, steadfastness, love and perseverance - NIV 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, CJB 11 as well as the persecutions and sufferings that came my way in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. NIV 11 persecutions, sufferings--what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. CJB 12 And indeed, all who want to live a godly life united with the Messiah Yeshua will be persecuted, NIV 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, CJB 13 while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves. NIV 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. CJB 14 But you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, recalling the people from whom you learned it; NIV 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, CJB 15 and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. NIV 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. CJB 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; NIV 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, CJB 17 thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work. NIV 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
