2 Timothy 3

GNT 1 Remember that there will be difficult times in the last days. NIV 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. GNT 2 People will be selfish, greedy, boastful, and conceited; they will be insulting, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and irreligious; NIV 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, GNT 3 they will be unkind, merciless, slanderers, violent, and fierce; they will hate the good; NIV 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, GNT 4 they will be treacherous, reckless, and swollen with pride; they will love pleasure rather than God; NIV 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- GNT 5 they will hold to the outward form of our religion, but reject its real power. Keep away from such people. NIV 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. GNT 6 Some of them go into people's houses and gain control over weak women who are burdened by the guilt of their sins and driven by all kinds of desires, NIV 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, GNT 7 women who are always trying to learn but who can never come to know the truth. NIV 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. GNT 8 As Jannes and Jambres were opposed to Moses, so also these people are opposed to the truth - people whose minds do not function and who are failures in the faith. NIV 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. GNT 9 But they will not get very far, because everyone will see how stupid they are. That is just what happened to Jannes and Jambres. NIV 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. GNT 10 But you have followed my teaching, my conduct, and my purpose in life; you have observed my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance, NIV 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, GNT 11 my persecutions, and my sufferings. You know all that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, the terrible persecutions I endured! But the Lord rescued me from them all. NIV 11 persecutions, sufferings--what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. GNT 12 Everyone who wants to live a godly life in union with Christ Jesus will be persecuted; NIV 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, GNT 13 and evil persons and impostors will keep on going from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves. NIV 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. GNT 14 But as for you, continue in the truths that you were taught and firmly believe. You know who your teachers were, NIV 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, GNT 15 and you remember that ever since you were a child, you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. NIV 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. GNT 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, NIV 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, GNT 17 so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed. NIV 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
