1 Para todas las cosas <I>hay</I> sazón, y toda voluntad debajo del cielo, <I>tiene su</I> tiempo <I>determinado</I> :

2 Tiempo de nacer, y tiempo de morir; tiempo de plantar, y tiempo de arrancar lo plantado;

3 tiempo de matar, y tiempo de curar; tiempo de destruir, y tiempo de edificar;

4 tiempo de llorar, y tiempo de reir; tiempo de endechar, y tiempo de bailar;

5 tiempo de esparcir las piedras, y tiempo de allegar las piedras; tiempo de abrazar, y tiempo de alejarse de abrazar;

6 tiempo de buscar, y tiempo de perder; tiempo de guardar, y tiempo de desechar;

7 tiempo de romper, y tiempo de coser; tiempo de callar, y tiempo de hablar;

8 tiempo de amar, y tiempo de aborrecer; tiempo de guerra, y tiempo de paz.

9 ¿Qué provecho tiene el que trabaja en lo que trabaja?

10 Yo he visto la ocupación que Dios ha dado a los hijos de los hombres para que en ella se ocupasen.

11 Todo lo hizo hermoso en su tiempo; y aun el mundo <I>les</I> entregó a su voluntad, <I>de tal manera</I> que no alcance el hombre <I>esta</I> obra de Dios desde el principio hasta el fin.

12 <I>Yo</I> he conocido que no <I>hay</I> mejor para ellos, que alegrarse, y hacer bien en su vida.

13 Y también <I>he conocido</I> que <I>es</I> don de Dios que todo hombre coma y beba, y goce el bien de todo su trabajo.

14 He entendido que todo lo que Dios hace, esto será perpetuo; sobre aquello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá; porque Dios <I>lo</I> hace, para que delante de él teman <I>los hombres</I> .

15 Aquello que fue, ya es: y lo que será, fue ya; y Dios buscará lo que pasó.

16 Vi más debajo del sol: en lugar del juicio, allí la impiedad; y en lugar de la justicia, allí la iniquidad.

17 Y dije yo en mi corazón: Al justo y al impío juzgará Dios; porque hay un tiempo determinado <I>de juzgar</I> a toda voluntad y sobre todo lo que se hace.

18 Dije en mi corazón, en orden a la condición de los hijos de los hombres, que Dios los puede manifestar, y <I>es</I> para ver que ellos <I>son</I> bestias los unos a los otros.

19 Porque el suceso de los hijos de los hombres, y el suceso del animal, el mismo suceso es: como mueren los unos, así mueren los otros; y una misma respiración tienen todos; ni tiene más el hombre que la bestia; porque todo <I>es</I> vanidad.

20 Todo va a un lugar; todo es hecho del polvo, y todo volverá al mismo polvo.

21 ¿Quién sabe que el espíritu de los hijos de los hombres suba arriba, y que el espíritu del animal descienda debajo de la tierra?

22 Así que he visto que no <I>hay</I> cosa mejor que alegrarse el hombre con lo que hiciere; porque esta <I>es</I> su parte; porque ¿quién lo llevará para que vea lo que será después de él?

1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

9 What do workers gain from their toil?

10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.

13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

15 Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account.

16 And I saw something else under the sun: In the place of judgment—wickedness was there, in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

17 I said to myself, “God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.”

18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.

19 Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath ; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless.

20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.

21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?
