Ephesians 6

1 Children, obey your parents as believers in the Lord. Obey them because it's the right thing to do.
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 Scripture says, "Honor your father and mother." That is the first commandment that has a promise.
2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—
3 "Then things will go well with you. You will live a long time on the earth."(Deuteronomy 5:16)
3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
4 Fathers, don't make your children angry. Instead, train them and teach them the ways of the Lord as you raise them.
4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
5 Slaves, obey your masters here on earth. Respect them and honor them with a heart that is true. Obey them just as you would obey Christ.
5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
6 Don't obey them only to please them when they are watching. Do it because you are slaves of Christ. Be sure your heart does what God wants.
6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.
7 Serve your masters with all your heart. Work as if you were not serving people but the Lord.
7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,
8 You know that the Lord will give you a reward. He will give to each of you in keeping with the good you do. It doesn't matter whether you are slaves or free.
8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
9 Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. When you warn them, don't be too hard on them. You know that the One who is their Master and yours is in heaven. And he treats everyone the same.
9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.
10 Finally, let the Lord make you strong. Depend on his mighty power.
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on all of God's armor. Then you can stand firm against the devil's evil plans.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 Our fight is not against human beings. It is against the rulers, the authorities and the powers of this dark world. It is against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly world.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 So put on all of God's armor. Evil days will come. But you will be able to stand up to anything. And after you have done everything you can, you will still be standing.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 So stand firm. Put the belt of truth around your waist. Put the armor of godliness on your chest.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 Wear on your feet what will prepare you to tell the good news of peace.
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 Also, pick up the shield of faith. With it you can put out all of the flaming arrows of the evil one.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Put on the helmet of salvation. And take the sword of the Holy Spirit. The sword is God's word.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all of God's people.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
19 Pray also for me. Pray that when I open my mouth, the right words will be given to me. Then I can be bold as I tell the mystery of the good news.
19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 Because of the good news, I am being held by chains as the Lord's messenger. So pray that I will be bold as I preach the good news. That's what I should do.
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
21 Tychicus is a dear brother. He is faithful in serving the Lord. He will tell you everything about me. Then you will know how I am and what I am doing.
21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing.
22 That's why I am sending him to you. I want you to know how we are. And I want him to cheer you up.
22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.
23 May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give peace to the brothers and sisters. May they also give them love and faith.
23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 May grace be given to everyone who loves our Lord Jesus Christ with a love that will never die.
24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
