NIV

1 [Although] God spoke long ago in many parts and in many ways to the fathers by the prophets,
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
2 in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all [things], through whom also he made the world,
2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
3 who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all [things] by the word of power. [When he] had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
4 having become by so much better than the angels, by as much as he has inherited a more excellent name than theirs.
4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did he ever say, "You are my son, today I have begotten you,"<note: A quotation from Ps 2:7> and again, "I will be {his father}<note: Literally "to him for a father">, and he will be {my son}<note: Literally "to me for a son">"?<note: A quotation from 2 Sam 7:14 (cf. 1 Chr 17:13)>
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father” ? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son” ?
6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "And let all [the] angels of God worship him."<note: A quotation from Deut 32:43 and Ps 97:7>
6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7 And concerning the angels he says, "The one who makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire,"<note: A quotation from Ps 104:4>
7 In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”
8 but concerning the Son, "Your throne, O God, [is] {forever and ever}<note: Literally "for the age of the age">, and the scepter of righteous [is the] scepter of your kingdom.
8 But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; because of this God, your God, has anointed you with the olive oil of joy more than your companions.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
10 And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the works of your hands;
10 He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 they will perish, but you continue, and they will all become old like a garment,
11 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
12 and like a robe you will roll them up, and like a garment they will be changed; but you are the same, and your years will not run out."
12 You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.”
13 But to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit down at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."<note: A quotation from Ps 110:1>
13 To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet” ?
