John 7:3-10

LEB

NIV

3 So his brothers said to him, "Depart from here and go to Judea, so that your disciples also can see your works that you are doing.
3 Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.
4 For no one does anything in secret and [yet] he himself desires to be {publicly recognized}. If you are doing these [things], reveal yourself to the world!"
4 No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”
5 (For not even his brothers believed in him.)
5 For even his own brothers did not believe in him.
6 So Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
6 Therefore Jesus told them, “My time is not yet here; for you any time will do.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it, that its deeds are evil.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.
8 You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, because my time is not yet completed.
8 You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.”
9 And [when he] had said these [things], he remained in Galilee.
9 After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee.
10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but (as it were) in secret.
10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.
