1 Lodate l’Eterno, perché è cosa buona salmeggiare al nostro Dio; perché è cosa dolce, e la lode è convenevole.

Praise the LORD.How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 L’Eterno edifica Gerusalemme, raccoglie i dispersi d’Israele;

The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 egli guarisce chi ha il cuor rotto, e fascia le loro piaghe.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
4 Egli conta il numero delle stelle, le chiama tutte per nome.

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
5 Grande è il Signor nostro, e immenso è il suo potere; la sua intelligenza è infinita.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
6 L’Eterno sostiene gli umili, ma abbatte gli empi fino a terra.

The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Cantate all’Eterno inni di lode, salmeggiate con la cetra all’Iddio nostro,

Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.
8 che cuopre il cielo di nuvole, prepara la pioggia per la terra, e fa germogliare l’erba sui monti.

He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
9 Egli dà la pastura al bestiame e ai piccini dei corvi che gridano.

He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
10 Egli non si compiace della forza del cavallo, non prende piacere nelle gambe dell’uomo.

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 L’Eterno prende piacere in quelli che lo temono, in quelli che sperano nella sua benignità.

the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
12 Celebra l’Eterno, o Gerusalemme! Loda il tuo Dio, o Sion!

Extol the LORD, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
13 Perch’egli ha rinforzato le sbarre delle tue porte, ha benedetto i tuoi figliuoli in mezzo a te.

He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.
14 Egli mantiene la pace entro i tuoi confini, ti sazia col frumento più fino.

He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
15 Egli manda i suoi ordini sulla terra, la sua parola corre velocissima.

He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
16 Egli dà la neve a guisa di lana, sparge la brina a guisa di cenere.

He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 Egli getta il suo ghiaccio come a pezzi; e chi può reggere dinanzi al suo freddo?

He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 Egli manda la sua parola e li fa struggere; fa soffiare il suo vento e le acque corrono.

He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
19 Egli fa conoscere la sua parola a Giacobbe, i suoi statuti e i suoi decreti a Israele.

He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 Egli non ha fatto così con tutte le nazioni; e i suoi decreti esse non li conoscono. Alleluia.

He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws.Praise the LORD.
