Acts 3

ASV 1 Now Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, [being] the ninth [hour]. NIV 1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon. ASV 2 And a certain man that was lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; NIV 2 Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. ASV 3 who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms. NIV 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. ASV 4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him, with John, said, Look on us. NIV 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" ASV 5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something from them. NIV 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. ASV 6 But Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but what I have, that give I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. NIV 6 Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." ASV 7 And he took him by the right hand, and raised him up: and immediately his feet and his ankle-bones received strength. NIV 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. ASV 8 And leaping up, he stood, and began to walk; and he entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. NIV 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. ASV 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God: NIV 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, ASV 10 and they took knowledge of him, that it was he that sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. NIV 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. ASV 11 And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. NIV 11 While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon's Colonnade. ASV 12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this man? or why fasten ye your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him to walk? NIV 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? ASV 13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him. NIV 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. ASV 14 But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you, NIV 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. ASV 15 and killed the Prince of life; whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. NIV 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. ASV 16 And by faith in his name hath his name made this man strong, whom ye behold and know: yea, the faith which is through him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. NIV 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see. ASV 17 And now, brethren, I know that in ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. NIV 17 "Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. ASV 18 But the things which God foreshowed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled. NIV 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. ASV 19 Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord; NIV 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, ASV 20 and that he may send the Christ who hath been appointed for you, [even] Jesus: NIV 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. ASV 21 whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spake by the mouth of His holy prophets that have been from of old. NIV 21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. ASV 22 Moses indeed said, A prophet shall the Lord God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me. To him shall ye hearken in all things whatsoever he shall speak unto you. NIV 22 For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. ASV 23 And it shall be, that every soul that shall not hearken to that prophet, shall be utterly destroyed from among the people. NIV 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.' ASV 24 Yea and all the prophets from Samuel and them that followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days. NIV 24 "Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days. ASV 25 Ye are the sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. NIV 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.' ASV 26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities. NIV 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
