Acts 3

CJB 1 One afternoon at three o'clock, the hour of minchah prayers, as Kefa and Yochanan were going up to the Temple, NIV 1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon. CJB 2 a man crippled since birth was being carried in. Every day people used to put him at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, so that he could beg from those going into the Temple court. NIV 2 Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. CJB 3 When he saw Kefa and Yochanan about to enter, he asked them for some money. NIV 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. CJB 4 But they stared straight at him; and Kefa said, "Look at us!" NIV 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" CJB 5 The crippled man fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. NIV 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. CJB 6 Kefa said, "I don't have silver, and I don't have gold, but what I do have I give to you: in the name of the Messiah, Yeshua of Natzeret, walk!" NIV 6 Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." CJB 7 And taking hold of him by his right hand, Kefa pulled him up. Instantly his feet and ankles became strong; NIV 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. CJB 8 so that he sprang up, stood a moment, and began walking. Then he entered the Temple court with them, walking and leaping and praising God! NIV 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. CJB 9 Everyone saw him walking and praising God. NIV 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, CJB 10 They recognized him as the same man who had formerly sat begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, and they were utterly amazed and confounded at what had happened to him. NIV 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. CJB 11 While he clung to Kefa and Yochanan, all the people came running in astonishment toward them in Shlomo's Colonnade. NIV 11 While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon's Colonnade. CJB 12 Seeing this, Kefa addressed the people: "Men of Isra'el! Why are you amazed at this? Or why do you stare at us as if we had made this man walk through some power or godliness of our own? NIV 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? CJB 13 The God of Avraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Yeshua - the same Yeshua you handed over and disowned before Pilate, even after he had decided to release him. NIV 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. CJB 14 You denied the holy and innocent one, and instead asked for the reprieve of a murderer! NIV 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. CJB 15 You killed the author of life! "But God has raised him from the dead! Of this we are witnesses. NIV 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. CJB 16 And it is through putting trust in his name that his name has given strength to this man whom you see and know. Yes, it is the trust that comes through Yeshua which has given him this perfect healing in the presence of you all. NIV 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see. CJB 17 "Now, brothers, I know that you did not understand the significance of what you were doing; neither did your leaders. NIV 17 "Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. CJB 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had announced in advance, when he spoke through all the prophets, namely, that his Messiah was to die. NIV 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. CJB 19 "Therefore, repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be erased; NIV 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, CJB 20 so that times of refreshing may come from the Lord's presence; and he may send the Messiah appointed in advance for you, that is, Yeshua. NIV 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. CJB 21 He has to remain in heaven until the time comes for restoring everything, as God said long ago, when he spoke through the holy prophets. NIV 21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. CJB 22 For Moshe himself said, 'ADONAI will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You are to listen to everything he tells you. NIV 22 For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. CJB 23 Everyone who fails to listen to that prophet will be removed from the people and destroyed.' NIV 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.' CJB 24 Indeed, all the prophets announced these days, starting with Sh'mu'el and continuing through all who followed. NIV 24 "Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days. CJB 25 "You are the sons of the prophets; and you are included in the covenant which God made with our fathers when he said to Avraham, 'By your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.' NIV 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.' CJB 26 So it is to you first that God has sent his servant whom he has raised up, so that he might bless you by turning each one of you from your evil ways." NIV 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
