Acts 3

RHE 1 Now Peter and John went up into the temple at the ninth hour of prayer. NIV 1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon. RHE 2 And a certain man who was lame from his mother’s womb was carried: whom they laid every day at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, that he might ask alms of them that went into the temple. NIV 2 Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. RHE 3 He, when he had seen Peter and John, about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms. NIV 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. RHE 4 But Peter with John, fastening his eyes upon him, said: Look upon us. NIV 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" RHE 5 But he looked earnestly upon them, hoping that he should receive something of them. NIV 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. RHE 6 But Peter said: Silver and gold I have none; but what I have, I give thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, arise and walk. NIV 6 Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." RHE 7 And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up: and forthwith his feet and soles received strength. NIV 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. RHE 8 And he leaping up, stood and walked and went in with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. NIV 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. RHE 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. NIV 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, RHE 10 And they knew him, that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him. NIV 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. RHE 11 And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran to them, to the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. NIV 11 While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon's Colonnade. RHE 12 But Peter seeing, made answer to the people: Ye men of Israel, why wonder you at this? Or why look you upon us, as if by our strength or power we had made this man to walk? NIV 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? RHE 13 The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus, whom you indeed delivered up and denied before the face of Pilate, when he judged he should be released. NIV 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. RHE 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just: and desired a murderer to be granted unto you. NIV 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. RHE 15 But the author of life you killed, whom God hath raised from the dead: of which we are witnesses. NIV 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. RHE 16 And in the faith of his name, this man, whom you have seen and known, hath his name strengthened. And the faith which is by him hath given this perfect soundness in the sight of you all. NIV 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see. RHE 17 And now, brethren, I know that you did it through ignorance: as did also your rulers. NIV 17 "Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. RHE 18 But those things which God before had shewed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. NIV 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. RHE 19 Be penitent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out. NIV 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, RHE 20 That when the times of refreshment shall come from the presence of the Lord, and he shall send him who hath been preached unto you, Jesus Christ. NIV 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. RHE 21 Whom heaven indeed must receive, until the times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets, from the beginning of the world. NIV 21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. RHE 22 For Moses said: A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me: him you shall hear according to all things whatsoever he shall speak to you. NIV 22 For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. RHE 23 And it shall be, that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people. NIV 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.' RHE 24 And all the prophets, from Samuel and afterwards, who have spoken, have told of these days. NIV 24 "Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days. RHE 25 You are the children of the prophets and of the testament which God made to our fathers, saying to Abraham: And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. NIV 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.' RHE 26 To you first, God, raising up his Son, hath sent him to bless you: that every one may convert himself from his wickedness. NIV 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
