NLT 32 Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda. NIV 32 As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the saints in Lydda. NLT 33 There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. NIV 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years. NLT 34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly. NIV 34 "Aeneas," Peter said to him, "Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat." Immediately Aeneas got up. NLT 35 Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord. NIV 35 All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. NLT 36 There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas ). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor. NIV 36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas ), who was always doing good and helping the poor. NLT 37 About this time she became ill and died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room. NIV 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. NLT 38 But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!” NIV 38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!" NLT 39 So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them. NIV 39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. NLT 40 But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up! NIV 40 Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. NLT 41 He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive. NIV 41 He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive. NLT 42 The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord. NIV 42 This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. NLT 43 And Peter stayed a long time in Joppa, living with Simon, a tanner of hides. NIV 43 Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.
