Colossians 1:1-14

NLT 1 This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy. NIV 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, NLT 2 We are writing to God’s holy people in the city of Colosse, who are faithful brothers and sisters in Christ. May God our Father give you grace and peace. NIV 2 To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ at Colosse: Grace and peace to you from God our Father. NLT 3 We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, NLT 4 For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, NIV 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints-- NLT 5 which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. NIV 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel NLT 6 This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. NIV 6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth. NLT 7 You learned about the Good News from Epaphras, our beloved co-worker. He is Christ’s faithful servant, and he is helping us on your behalf. NIV 7 You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, NLT 8 He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you. NIV 8 and who also told us of your love in the Spirit. NLT 9 So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. NIV 9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. NLT 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. NIV 10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, NLT 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, NIV 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully NLT 12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. NIV 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. NLT 13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, NIV 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, NLT 14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. NIV 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
