Colossians 3

DBY 1 If therefore ye have been raised with the Christ, seek the things [which are] above, where the Christ is, sitting at [the] right hand of God: NIV 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. DBY 2 have your mind on the things [that are] above, not on the things [that are] on the earth; NIV 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. DBY 3 for ye have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God. NIV 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. DBY 4 When the Christ is manifested who [is] our life, then shall *ye* also be manifested with him in glory. NIV 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. DBY 5 Put to death therefore your members which [are] upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry. NIV 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. DBY 6 On account of which things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. NIV 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. DBY 7 In which *ye* also once walked when ye lived in these things. NIV 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. DBY 8 But now, put off, *ye* also, all [these] things, wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, vile language out of your mouth. NIV 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. DBY 9 Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his deeds, NIV 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices DBY 10 and having put on the new, renewed into full knowledge according to [the] image of him that has created him; NIV 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. DBY 11 wherein there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ [is] everything, and in all. NIV 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. DBY 12 Put on therefore, as [the] elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering; NIV 12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. DBY 13 forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any should have a complaint against any; even as the Christ has forgiven you, so also [do] *ye*. NIV 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. DBY 14 And to all these [add] love, which is the bond of perfectness. NIV 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. DBY 15 And let the peace of Christ preside in your hearts, to which also ye have been called in one body, and be thankful. NIV 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. DBY 16 Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another, in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God. NIV 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. DBY 17 And everything, whatever ye may do in word or in deed, [do] all things in [the] name of [the] Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father by him. NIV 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. DBY 18 Wives, be subject to [your] husbands, as is fitting in [the] Lord. NIV 18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. DBY 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. NIV 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. DBY 20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in [the] Lord. NIV 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. DBY 21 Fathers, do not vex your children, to the end that they be not disheartened. NIV 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. DBY 22 Bondmen, obey in all things your masters according to flesh; not with eye-services, as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord. NIV 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. DBY 23 Whatsoever ye do, labour at it heartily, as [doing it] to the Lord, and not to men; NIV 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, DBY 24 knowing that of [the] Lord ye shall receive the recompense of the inheritance; ye serve the Lord Christ. NIV 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. DBY 25 For he that does a wrong shall receive the wrong he has done, and there is no respect of persons. NIV 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
