Colossians 3

NRS 1 So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. NIV 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. NRS 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, NIV 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. NRS 3 for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. NIV 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. NRS 4 When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. NIV 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. NRS 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry). NIV 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. NRS 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient. NIV 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. NRS 7 These are the ways you also once followed, when you were living that life. NIV 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. NRS 8 But now you must get rid of all such things—anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth. NIV 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. NRS 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices NIV 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices NRS 10 and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator. NIV 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. NRS 11 In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all! NIV 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. NRS 12 As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. NIV 12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. NRS 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. NIV 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. NRS 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. NIV 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. NRS 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. NIV 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. NRS 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. NIV 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. NRS 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. NIV 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. NRS 18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. NIV 18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. NRS 19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. NIV 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. NRS 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only while being watched and in order to please them, but wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord. NIV 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. NRS 23 Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, NIV 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, NRS 24 since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.
