Colossians 4

CEB 1 Masters, be just and fair to your slaves, knowing that you yourselves have a master in heaven. NIV 1 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven. CEB 2 Keep on praying and guard your prayers with thanksgiving. NIV 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. CEB 3 At the same time, pray for us also. Pray that God would open a door for the word so we can preach the secret plan of Christ—which is why I'm in chains. NIV 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. CEB 4 Pray that I might be able to make it as clear as I ought to when I preach. NIV 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. CEB 5 Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. NIV 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. CEB 6 Your speech should always be gracious and sprinkled with insight so that you may know how to respond to every person. NIV 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. CEB 7 Tychicus, our dearly loved brother, faithful minister, and fellow slave in the Lord, will inform you about everything that has happened to me. NIV 7 Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord. CEB 8 This is why I sent him to you, so that you'll know all about us and so he can encourage your hearts. NIV 8 I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts. CEB 9 I sent him with Onesimus, our faithful and dearly loved brother, who is one of you. They will let you know about everything here. NIV 9 He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here. CEB 10 Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, says hello to you. So does Mark, Barnabas' cousin (you received instructions about him; if he comes to you, welcome him). NIV 10 My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. (You have received instructions about him; if he comes to you, welcome him.) CEB 11 Jesus, called Justus, also says hello. These are my only fellow workers for God's kingdom who are Jewish converts. They have been an encouragement to me. NIV 11 Jesus, who is called Justus, also sends greetings. These are the only Jews among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have proved a comfort to me. CEB 12 Epaphras, who is one of you, says hello. He's a slave of Christ Jesus who always wrestles for you in prayers so that you will stand firm and be fully mature and complete in the entire will of God. NIV 12 Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. CEB 13 I can vouch for him that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and Hierapolis. NIV 13 I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis. CEB 15 Say hello to the brothers and sisters in Laodicea, along with Nympha and the church that meets in her house. NIV 15 Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house. CEB 16 After this letter has been read to you publicly, make sure that the church in Laodicea reads it and that you read the one from Laodicea. NIV 16 After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea. CEB 17 And tell Archippus, "See to it that you complete the ministry that you received in the Lord." NIV 17 Tell Archippus: "See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord."
