Colossians 4

DBY 1 Masters, give to bondmen what is just and fair, knowing that *ye* also have a Master in [the] heavens. NIV 1 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven. DBY 2 Persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving; NIV 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. DBY 3 praying at the same time for us also, that God may open to us a door of the word to speak the mystery of Christ, on account of which also I am bound, NIV 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. DBY 4 to the end that I may make it manifest as I ought to speak. NIV 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. DBY 5 Walk in wisdom towards those without, redeeming opportunities. NIV 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. DBY 6 [Let] your word [be] always with grace, seasoned with salt, [so as] to know how ye ought to answer each one. NIV 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. DBY 7 Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister and fellow-bondman in [the] Lord, will make known to you all that concerns me; NIV 7 Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord. DBY 8 whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that he might know your state, and that he might encourage your hearts: NIV 8 I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts. DBY 9 with Onesimus, the faithful and beloved brother, who is [one] of you. They shall make known to you everything here. NIV 9 He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here. DBY 10 Aristarchus my fellow-captive salutes you, and Mark, Barnabas's cousin, concerning whom ye have received orders, (if he come to you, receive him,) NIV 10 My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. (You have received instructions about him; if he comes to you, welcome him.) DBY 11 and Jesus called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These [are the] only fellow-workers for the kingdom of God who have been a consolation to me. NIV 11 Jesus, who is called Justus, also sends greetings. These are the only Jews among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have proved a comfort to me. DBY 12 Epaphras, who is [one] of you, [the] bondman of Christ Jesus, salutes you, always combating earnestly for you in prayers, to the end that ye may stand perfect and complete in all [the] will of God. NIV 12 Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. DBY 13 For I bear him witness that he labours much for you, and them in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis. NIV 13 I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis. DBY 14 Luke, the beloved physician, salutes you, and Demas. NIV 14 Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings. DBY 15 Salute the brethren in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the assembly which [is] in his house. NIV 15 Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house. DBY 16 And when the letter has been read among you, cause that it be read also in the assembly of Laodiceans, and that *ye* also read that from Laodicea. NIV 16 After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea. DBY 17 And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in [the] Lord, to the end that thou fulfil it. NIV 17 Tell Archippus: "See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord." DBY 18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace [be] with you. NIV 18 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
