Daniel 1:17-21

NLT 17 God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for learning the literature and science of the time. And God gave Daniel special ability in understanding the meanings of visions and dreams. NIV 17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. NLT 18 When the three-year training period ordered by the king was completed, the chief official brought all the young men to King Nebuchadnezzar. NIV 18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. NLT 19 The king talked with each of them, and none of them impressed him as much as Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they were appointed to his regular staff of advisers. NIV 19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service. NLT 20 In all matters requiring wisdom and balanced judgment, the king found the advice of these young men to be ten times better than that of all the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom. NIV 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. NLT 21 Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus's reign. NIV 21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
