Deuteronomy 31:18-28

NRS 18 On that day I will surely hide my face on account of all the evil they have done by turning to other gods. NIV 18 And I will certainly hide my face on that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods. NRS 19 Now therefore write this song, and teach it to the Israelites; put it in their mouths, in order that this song may be a witness for me against the Israelites. NIV 19 "Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them. NRS 20 For when I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, which I promised on oath to their ancestors, and they have eaten their fill and grown fat, they will turn to other gods and serve them, despising me and breaking my covenant. NIV 20 When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their forefathers, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant. NRS 21 And when many terrible troubles come upon them, this song will confront them as a witness, because it will not be lost from the mouths of their descendants. For I know what they are inclined to do even now, before I have brought them into the land that I promised them on oath." NIV 21 And when many disasters and difficulties come upon them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath." NRS 22 That very day Moses wrote this song and taught it to the Israelites. NIV 22 So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites. NRS 23 Then the Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun and said, "Be strong and bold, for you shall bring the Israelites into the land that I promised them; I will be with you." NIV 23 The LORD gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: "Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you." NRS 24 When Moses had finished writing down in a book the words of this law to the very end, NIV 24 After Moses finished writing in a book the words of this law from beginning to end, NRS 25 Moses commanded the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, NIV 25 he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD: NRS 26 "Take this book of the law and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God; let it remain there as a witness against you. NIV 26 "Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. There it will remain as a witness against you. NRS 27 For I know well how rebellious and stubborn you are. If you already have been so rebellious toward the Lord while I am still alive among you, how much more after my death! NIV 27 For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die! NRS 28 Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officials, so that I may recite these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to witness against them. NIV 28 Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials, so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to testify against them.
