Deuteronomy 32:16-26

NRS 16 They made him jealous with strange gods, with abhorrent things they provoked him. NIV 16 They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols. NRS 17 They sacrificed to demons, not God, to deities they had never known, to new ones recently arrived, whom your ancestors had not feared. NRS 19 The Lord saw it, and was jealous; he spurned his sons and daughters. NIV 19 The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters. NRS 20 He said: I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children in whom there is no faithfulness. NIV 20 "I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful. NRS 21 They made me jealous with what is no god, provoked me with their idols. So I will make them jealous with what is no people, provoke them with a foolish nation. NIV 21 They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding. NRS 22 For a fire is kindled by my anger, and burns to the depths of Sheol; it devours the earth and its increase, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. NIV 22 For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains. NRS 23 I will heap disasters upon them, spend my arrows against them: NIV 23 "I will heap calamities upon them and spend my arrows against them. NRS 24 wasting hunger, burning consumption, bitter pestilence. The teeth of beasts I will send against them, with venom of things crawling in the dust. NIV 24 I will send wasting famine against them, consuming pestilence and deadly plague; I will send against them the fangs of wild beasts, the venom of vipers that glide in the dust. NRS 25 In the street the sword shall bereave, and in the chambers terror, for young man and woman alike, nursing child and old gray head. NIV 25 In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. Young men and young women will perish, infants and gray-haired men.
