Ecclesiastes 6:7-9

RSV 7 All the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied. NIV 7 All man's efforts are for his mouth, yet his appetite is never satisfied. RSV 8 For what advantage has the wise man over the fool? And what does the poor man have who knows how to conduct himself before the living? NIV 8 What advantage has a wise man over a fool? What does a poor man gain by knowing how to conduct himself before others? RSV 9 Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire; this also is vanity and a striving after wind. NIV 9 Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
