Ephesians 2:11-22

CEB 11 So remember that once you were Gentiles by physical descent, who were called "uncircumcised" by Jews who are physically circumcised. NIV 11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- CEB 12 At that time you were without Christ. You were aliens rather than citizens of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of God's promise. In this world you had no hope and no God. NIV 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. CEB 13 But now, thanks to Christ Jesus, you who once were so far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. NIV 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. CEB 14 Christ is our peace. He made both Jews and Gentiles into one group. With his body, he broke down the barrier of hatred that divided us. NIV 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, CEB 15 He canceled the detailed rules of the Law so that he could create one new person out of the two groups, making peace. NIV 15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, CEB 16 He reconciled them both as one body to God by the cross, which ended the hostility to God. NIV 16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. CEB 17 When he came, he announced the good news of peace to you who were far away from God and to those who were near. NIV 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. CEB 18 We both have access to the Father through Christ by the one Spirit. NIV 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. CEB 19 So now you are no longer strangers and aliens. Rather, you are fellow citizens with God's people, and you belong to God's household. NIV 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, CEB 20 As God's household, you are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. NIV 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. CEB 21 The whole building is joined together in him, and it grows up into a temple that is dedicated to the Lord. NIV 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. CEB 22 Christ is building you into a place where God lives through the Spirit. NIV 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
