Ephesians 2:11-22

NLT 11 Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders by birth. You were called "the uncircumcised ones" by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts. NIV 11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- NLT 12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from God's people, Israel, and you did not know the promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. NIV 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. NLT 13 But now you belong to Christ Jesus. Though you once were far away from God, now you have been brought near to him because of the blood of Christ. NIV 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. NLT 14 For Christ himself has made peace between us Jews and you Gentiles by making us all one people. He has broken down the wall of hostility that used to separate us. NIV 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, NLT 15 By his death he ended the whole system of Jewish law that excluded the Gentiles. His purpose was to make peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new person from the two groups. NIV 15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, NLT 16 Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. NIV 16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. NLT 17 He has brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and to us Jews who were near. NIV 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. NLT 18 Now all of us, both Jews and Gentiles, may come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us. NIV 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. NLT 19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family. NIV 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, NLT 20 We are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. NIV 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. NLT 21 We who believe are carefully joined together, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. NIV 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. NLT 22 Through him you Gentiles are also joined together as part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit. NIV 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
