GOD'S WORD Translation

Ephesians 5:20-30

GW 20 Always thank God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. GW 21 Place yourselves under each other's authority out of respect for Christ. NIV 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. GW 22 Wives, place yourselves under your husbands' authority as you have placed yourselves under the Lord's authority. NIV 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. GW 23 The husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. It is his body, and he is its Savior. NIV 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. GW 24 As the church is under Christ's authority, so wives are under their husbands' authority in everything. NIV 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. GW 25 Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. NIV 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her GW 26 He did this to make the church holy by cleansing it, washing it using water along with spoken words. NIV 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, GW 27 Then he could present it to himself as a glorious church, without any kind of stain or wrinkle--holy and without faults. NIV 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. GW 28 So husbands must love their wives as they love their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself. NIV 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. GW 29 No one ever hated his own body. Instead, he feeds and takes care of it, as Christ takes care of the church. NIV 29 After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- GW 30 We are parts of his body. NIV 30 for we are members of his body.
