Ephesians 5:22-33

RSV 22 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. NIV 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. RSV 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. NIV 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. RSV 24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. NIV 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. RSV 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, NIV 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her RSV 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, NIV 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, RSV 27 that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. NIV 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. RSV 28 Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. NIV 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. RSV 29 For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, NIV 29 After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- RSV 30 because we are members of his body. NIV 30 for we are members of his body. RSV 31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." NIV 31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." RSV 32 This mystery is a profound one, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church; NIV 32 This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. RSV 33 however, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. NIV 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
