Ephesians 6

CSB 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right. NIV 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. CSB 2 Honor your father and mother -which is the first commandment with a promise- NIV 2 "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- CSB 3 that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land. NIV 3 "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." CSB 4 And fathers, don't stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. NIV 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. CSB 5 Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ. NIV 5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. CSB 6 Don't [work only] while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God's will from your heart. NIV 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. CSB 7 Render service with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men, NIV 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, CSB 8 knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Lord. NIV 8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. CSB 9 And masters, treat them the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their and your Master is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with Him. NIV 9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. CSB 10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. NIV 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. CSB 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. NIV 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. CSB 12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. NIV 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. CSB 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. NIV 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. CSB 14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, NIV 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, CSB 15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. NIV 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. CSB 16 In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. NIV 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. CSB 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word. NIV 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. CSB 18 With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and stay alert in this, with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. NIV 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. CSB 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. NIV 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, CSB 20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should. NIV 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. CSB 21 Tychicus, our dearly loved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything so that you also may know how I am and what I'm doing. NIV 21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. CSB 22 I am sending him to you for this very reason, to let you know how we are and to encourage your hearts. NIV 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you. CSB 23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
