Ephesians 6

DBY 1 Children, obey your parents in [the] Lord, for this is just. NIV 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. DBY 2 Honour thy father and thy mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, NIV 2 "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- DBY 3 that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest be long-lived on the earth. NIV 3 "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." DBY 4 And [ye] fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in [the] discipline and admonition of [the] Lord. NIV 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. DBY 5 Bondmen, obey masters according to flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart as to the Christ; NIV 5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. DBY 6 not with eye-service as men-pleasers; but as bondmen of Christ, doing the will of God from [the] soul, NIV 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. DBY 7 serving with good will as to the Lord, and not to men; NIV 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, DBY 8 knowing that whatever good each shall do, this he shall receive of [the] Lord, whether bond or free. NIV 8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. DBY 9 And, masters, do the same things towards them, giving up threatening, knowing that both their and your Master is in heaven, and there is no acceptance of persons with him. NIV 9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. DBY 10 For the rest, brethren, be strong in [the] Lord, and in the might of his strength. NIV 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. DBY 11 Put on the panoply of God, that ye may be able to stand against the artifices of the devil: NIV 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. DBY 12 because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against principalities, against authorities, against the universal lords of this darkness, against spiritual [power] of wickedness in the heavenlies. NIV 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. DBY 13 For this reason take [to you] the panoply of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having accomplished all things, to stand. NIV 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. DBY 14 Stand therefore, having girt about your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, NIV 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, DBY 15 and shod your feet with [the] preparation of the glad tidings of peace: NIV 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. DBY 16 besides all [these], having taken the shield of faith with which ye will be able to quench all the inflamed darts of the wicked one. NIV 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. DBY 17 Have also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word; NIV 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. DBY 18 praying at all seasons, with all prayer and supplication in [the] Spirit, and watching unto this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints; NIV 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. DBY 19 and for me in order that utterance may be given to me in [the] opening of my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the glad tidings, NIV 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, DBY 20 for which I am an ambassador [bound] with a chain, that I may be bold in it as I ought to speak. NIV 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. DBY 21 But in order that *ye* also may know what concerns me, how I am getting on, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in [the] Lord, shall make all things known to you; NIV 21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. DBY 22 whom I have sent to you for this very thing, that ye may know of our affairs and that he may encourage your hearts. NIV 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you. DBY 23 Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God [the] Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. DBY 24 Grace with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruption. NIV 24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
